After project evaluation the process of incubation is started. Incubation includes the following segments:

 

1. PLACEMENT IN TECHNOLOGY PARK

 

The first step is estimation of required business space. Based on former experience, the assumption is that every workspace requires 10 m2. Exceptions are made in specific cases, for example if only one person is being incubated. Market price of business space is 8 €/ m2 and overhead expenses are 2 €/ m2. Table below is used to calculate the benefited price of business space.

2. INFRASTRUCTURE

 

Infrastructure assured by Technology park Varaždin is the following:

 

1. Internet access,

2. Phone connection,

3. Meeting rooms, conference room, presentation equipment, video camera and digital camera, telefax device,

4. Copy machine,

5. Usage of Polytechnics laboratory is free of charge, but it is necessary to have permission of Polytechnics management,

6. Polytechnic library is free for all tenants of TPV,

 

3. IMPROVEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT OF TENANT COMPANIES

 

At the beginning of the incubation process a mentor is assigned to an entrepreneur. Mentor works with tenants on daily basis. Periodic discussions about strategic issues have to be agreed with the management of Technology park. Mentor deals with development of tenants as institutions and with development of tenant’s projects or products:

 

1. Analysis of the company’s needs (office space, infrastructure, human resources, financing, market),

2. Networking with similar companies, development agencies and educational institutions.

3. Organization of education for employees,

4. Help with applying for foreign and domestic funds,

5. Marketing for tenants.

 

4. DEVELOPMENT AND IMPROVEMENT OF TENANTS’ PROJECTS (PRODUCTS)

 

Development of a project (product) which was recognized in pre-incubation stage or appeared in process of incubation.

 

1. Market analysis and marketing, preparation for entering foreign or domestic market,

2. Help with acquiring patent rights,

3. Financial analysis of the project and preparation for partial financing from domestic or foreign funds,

4. Developing projects in cooperation with other tenants, companies and educational institutions in the area.
